Joppa was a Town situated by the Sea side (Port-Towns have been observed to be great inlets to the Gospel) it was part of the inheritance of the Tribe of Dan, formerly known by the name of Japho, 19 Josh. 46. 2 Chro. 2.16. now it is called by the Inhabitants Sappho. VVe find no mention made of Joppa, but in this and the next Chapter, throughout the whole New Testament; |
