Ierome doth so much deride in his Epistle to Nepotianus, telling him, that the Spirit of God came downe in the likenesse of an Innocent Doue, not Painted butterflie. Assure we our selues brethren, that as the rare and absolute quality of the Pen, consisteth not in Painting, Pricking forth, and tedious writing of sixe lines in a studie, no more doth the Excellencie of Preaching in the like exactnes. See 1 Cor. 14.15. Had the Fathers tooke this course, their workes had neuer beene in so many large volumes as now we haue them.
